a) Un réactif limitant est parmi les réactifs, celui qui limite la réaction en la stoppant par manque de quantité, il est consommé complètement par la réaction à l’état final.
b) Si Fe est le réactif limitant, n(Fe)f = 0 = 0,84 – 3 xmax ; xmax = 0,84 / 3 = 0,28 mol
Si O2 est le réactif limitant, n(O2)f = 0 = 0,48 – 2 xmax ; xmax = 0,48 / 2 = 0,24 mol
Le réactif limitant est celui qui disparaît totalement en premier.
0,24 < 0,28 . xmax = 0,24 mol et Fe est le réactif limitant
